Well, that's it -
the competition is over, the final songs have been sung.
We had the final last night, 16th January at The
Junction, Burgess Hill and what a night it was! The pub was filled to
capacity with standing room only.
I did not envy the judges - Nat B from Bright
106.4FM, Michelle the landlady and Nigel, my husband - their job at
all!
The 14 finalists each sang their first song and the
judges had to retire to another room for nearly 15 minutes to get this down to 6
acts to sing again. After these 6 sang it took the judges another trip to
a different room to decide on which 3 acts would be the winners but not until
they had heard them sing for a 3rd time!
After much deliberation Dan Russell from Hassocks was
declared the winner taking the £200 first prize, Suzi Branch from Scaynes Hill
second winning £100 and Ben Jones from Handcross won the third prize of
£50.

We also held a charity raffle with all prizes being
donated by local businesses and raised £266 which Dan decided he would like to
go to the Tsunami Appeal.
Following the success of this competition we are
running it again at The Junction starting on 31st July in the same format as
this time.
I would like to say a big thank you to The Junction
for letting us run this competition and to all the judges over the months who
have helped out but especially to all who took part. You were all
brilliant.
Finally many thanks to all who turned up last night
to support the singers and make the evening the success it was.
Anyone wanting to offer prizes or sponsorship for the
next competition please use the feedback form to get in touch.
Watch out for next week's Mid Sussex Times for a
write up on last night.
